Teddy Vonranson Spring/Summer 22

There are rare moments when clothing can move you emotionally to a feeling of bliss. Teddy’s “Elusive Paradise” at New York Men’s Day has done all that and more. Photography Courtesy of AGENTRY PR.

Almost immediately after entering the room, the sight of Teddy Vonranson’s warm demeanor and his Spring/Summer 2022 collection seamlessly shot a thousand volts of electric joy inside of me.

One can instantly feel the creative joy that has gone into each stitch of these garments that can certainly be categorized as items to be collected forever.

Teddy stays true to his coastal inspiration while re-interpreting it into a burst of precisely tailored pieces that could make an impression around the globe. Yes, there is a burst of vibrant hues and prints that are equally stunning, however some of the best items of the collection were a black blazer with a wrap-tied waist along with a pair of high-waisted trousers with the same wrap-tie effect. These pieces, especially the blazer and an accompanying navy suit have almost a couture-element to them that feels luxurious, easy, fresh, and new.

There are tasteful twists on espadrilles that have been remixed into sandals and sneakers in print, but also in black, olive, and beige. The most stunning shades of cobalt blue, orange, yellow, and grass green suits, overcoats, sweater vests, and parka jackets.

Utterly gorgeous arrangements of prints within every single piece testify to Vonranson’s mastery of mixing complimenting colors without overwhelm. Inspired by Paul Gauguin’s paintings of French Polynesia, it comes as no surprise that this collection possesses a wonderful poetry to it that made it feel like high art, instead of just clothes. It is wearable art for the modern man who isn’t afraid of detail here and there that his counterparts may not be familiar with.

To be expected, the garments are worthy of producing whiplash in the streets, but what makes this collection so outstanding is the superior and cutting-edge craftsmanship that went into the accessories and outerwear. This collection is what menswear should represent, something to look forward to, something never seen before, and something that makes me wish that Summer could start all over again just so we can do it right this time by wearing these clothes.
