Christian Cowan Opens with Opulence

British-born designer Christian Cowan who is primarily celebrated for his fresh and youthful twist on all things ostrich feathers, sequins, and sparkle has dreamed for quite some time of having his brick-and-mortar location. Last night, on Wooster Street that dream finally came to fruition with a boutique launch party that ushered in a fabulous, intentional, and unifying new era for the brand. This exciting new retail location seeks to outfit both the wardrobe and the finishing touches of beauty to the Christian Cowan consumer. Having partnered with Smashbox and Square, the space includes immersive beauty stations throughout the space along with cosmetic products for sale which allows the Cowan girl (or boy) to leave the space ready to dazzle with a full look that is sure to last for the duration of whichever party they will attend for the night.

Upon entering the space, one instantly felt a jolt of youthful, vibrant, and free-flowing creative expression through the interiors, clothes, cosmetics, and high-energy pop music blasting through the space. The walls of the new flagship were all painted a soft bubble-gum pink which matched the carpets.  Everything was beautifully lit with a fantastic hanging light-fixture series which made Cowan’s sensational clothes sparkle in the way that they were intended.

The collection was spread out throughout the two floors and colorized according to rich tones of fuchsias, pink, lavender, oranges, blacks, and even denim.

True to form, this flagship store opening which will serve as the blueprint for future events embodied the DNA of the night-life brand and a classic New York night: a huge party in an intentionally curated space that mixed in a myriad of intellectual creatives that like to express themselves authentically and have a lot of organic fun. Guests tried on a crimson coat, done all with ostrich feathers as well as denim coats lined with crystal embellishments, gaining a sneak peek of how New Yorkers and visitors of the state will interact with these whimsical pieces.

The store is open from Wednesday to Saturday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. The store’s location will also serve as the space where the brand will host its atelier and offices. Cowan wanted to expand his business from online to a physical retail space that feels both organic and soulful, allowing him to interact with his consumers hands-on, understanding what they are interested in and gravitating towards. This will ultimately allow him to plan and create his collections in the same space with the ultimate clarity as he expands his empire.
